Learn with the deck beside you
The book starts with the 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana and supports readers who have never done a reading. Work through it as a course, then return to individual card entries whenever a card appears in practice.
Marseille's particular challenge lies in its forty numbered pip cards. They show suits and arrangements, not narrative scenes. This method uses suit, number, placement and neighbouring cards without inventing a scene that is not on the card.

A practical way to learn
Keep your deck beside the book. Before opening an entry, describe what you can see: suit, number, gesture, direction of a gaze and position. Ask a question that helps you explore a situation, then choose a simple spread.
Compare your first reading with the entry and notice how the next card changes it. Reversed cards can wait until you are more comfortable. The aim is to build a reasoned reading, not memorise seventy-eight isolated answers.

Does it match your deck?
In Marseille, Justice is VIII and Strength XI; the numbered Minor Arcana show suit symbols without narrative scenes. If your deck follows that pattern, this is a suitable starting point.
If your numbered cards have illustrated scenes, see the Rider-Waite guide. If you already know the Marseille cards but struggle to read two together, the Marseille Combinations volume focuses on that skill.
